It’s been awhile since my last FR Faves, so I thought I’d round up a few of my favorite things that are helping me breeze through summer and (dare I say?) prep for back to school!
The Million Dollar Idea of Home Scents
I stumbled across Yankee Candle’s Scenterpiece Easy MeltCup System a couple of months ago and to say I’m hooked would be an understatement. It’s basically a wax warmer…but instead of using traditional wax melt bricks or cubes, you use Yankee Candle’s ingenious Easy MeltCups, which are designed to switch in and out with no mess or fuss! You put the entire plastic container in the warmer, it warms the wax and makes your house smell divine. Then, when you’re ready for a different scent, just pop the container out and put in a new one. Put the lid on the one you’re not using and save it for another day. I’ve had Beach Walk warming throughout summer, but I may also be secretly teeing up Autumn Wreath (one of my all-time faves!) to prep for cooler weather.
Summer Make-Up on Repeat
My make-up routine during the summer is pretty low-maintenance…actually, it’s pretty low maintenance all year round! I don’t mind splurging on beauty products I know are good and I’ve found two that I’ve had on major repeat this summer. First up, Essie Mrs. Always Right nail polish. This color looks great on all skin tones and is equally at home by the pool or dressed up for a summer wedding. I usually opt for lighter colors on my toesies, but I’ve been wearing this shade non-stop since June. I’m also a huge fan of Mario Badescu Lip Balm. I purchased my first tube and found myself looking for excuses to reapply, even though I didn’t need to. It makes your lips feel amazing and I use it throughout the day, as well as overnight. The “clear” color has the faintest smell of coconut…yum!
Back-to-School Lunchbox Champion
It’s never too early to think back-to-school, right? As much as I love summer fun, part of me really starts to look forward to the more structured routine of the school year right about now. Am I the only one? I’ve been making a list of supplies we need for this year and lunch boxes came up. As I started looking online — because obviously you research your kids’ lunchboxes, no? — I found these Stasher Reusable Food Storage Bags from Pottery Barn Kids. As someone who feels like they use 30 plastic bags every time they pack lunches, these called to me. I decided to give them a try and, much to my delight, I love them! I ordered both the sandwich and snack-sized bags and I’ve been using them for summer camp lunches the last few weeks. They’re easy to clean and they make me feel like I’m doing something to cut down on plastic bag usage in my household. Every little bit helps!
